The Easter holidays are now a distant memory.  We have been back a week already and have already achieved a lot.  For the next few weeks we will be busy checking we are ready for our Key Stage One SATs.  Don't forget to come along to the parent meeting this Friday (22nd) to find out a bit more about the process and have the opportunity to ask questions.

For the first two weeks we are still learning about why some famous people were brave.  We finish this topic by learning a bit more about Neil Armstrong and his famous mission to the moon.  This links in with some non-fiction writing we will be doing in literacy.

The children have been loving our science topic.  We are plant explorers.  We have been going out into the school grounds looking for the trees and flowers.  We are learning to identify plants and learn a bit about when they flower.  If you know the names of the flowers, plants and shrubs in your garden then please go outside with your child and test their knowledge.

In maths this week it would be really handy if your child could tell the time.  It is a top 25 Homefield skill and I know some of you have been working really hard on this but the ultimate challenge is to read the time to 5 minute intervals on an analogue clock.  If your child finds this difficult then the next best they could achieve is to read the time to the 1/4 of an hour.  Otherwise a good grounding in o'clock and half past would be a good start.

The new homework sheet went home today (Monday 18th April).  Remember to keep it safe and return it with the completed homework.  I was very impressed with the quality of the work from last time.  Thank you for all your combined efforts.
