A Wonderful week in Year 2.

In this section...

Here is some of the children's artwork from last half term.  Thank you for all of the homework that you sent in.  Our new topics are about our local area and keeping healthy.  Look out for the new homework challenge sheet that will be sent out next week.

Welcome back after a well deserved half term break.  We have had a busy week in Year 2.

The class newsletter will be going out on Monday but before then I will give you a taste of what we have already achieved this week.

We are very lucky to have two additional teachers in training, from the UEA, based in our class. Miss Noonan and Miss Kennedy are in full time for a four week block.  You will see them around and if you have signed up for a parent interview (Monday 7th) you may meet one of them.

Maths has been lots of fun this week. We have been learning to measure in grams and kilograms.  Ask your children to demonstrate their knowledge by getting out the scales and continuing the fun at home! Thank you to all of you that took the trouble to bring in conkers and acorns for us to weigh. Next week we will be learning about graphs incorporating our science learning too.  Our science theme for the half term is 'Healthy Me'. We look at ways to gain and maintain a healthy body and mind through a balanced diet, exercising and taking pride in ourselves, including personal hygiene.  On that note please refer to the text sent out on Friday 4th regarding all things apple-related!

In literacy we are writing a class story using a short animated film about a little pig who wants to fly as a writing prompt.  It would be incredibly beneficial to your child if you engage in discussion about the film.  Ask them to explain to you what it is about.  It is a film with no dialogue so we are using our own interpretation of the storyline to create our class story.

Thank you to all the children who have returned their photo slips as the individual and sibling photos take place on Tuesday 8th Nov.

I will see you on Monday for parent meetings.  If you have signed up for an appointment between 2.30 and 3.30 I will be based in the Sunshine Room, so please report to the main office.  For appointments 3.40pm onwards I will be based back in the classroom.
