Let the crazy adventure of Year 6 begin
Hello and welcome to the Year 6 blog! I hope you all had a fun filled summer. The children have had an amazing fist week back. We have hit the ground running and already immersed ourselves in our topic – the Tudors. This week we have studied how the Tudors came to power.
In English, we are writing diary entries. The children completed a cold task today from the perspective of the main character (Bradley Chalkers) in our class book: There’s a boy in the Girl’s bathroom.
We have started our maths learning with place value. The children have amazed me with their impressive use of mathematical language and secure number sense during our 10 in 10s (which go home every day).
On Monday, the children will be given homework diaries. After Christmas, (it’s only 110 days away!) children will receive a piece of homework every night. It is the expectation that a parent/carer signs their child’s homework diary weekly – Mrs Duffield and I will check them on a Friday morning. The aim of this is to help prepare them for secondary school.
- Indoor PE is on a Thursday afternoon
- Outdoor PE is on a Friday afternoon
- This half term Y6 will have outdoor learning on a Monday afternoon – please ensure they have a coast with a hood and outdoor trainers.
Both Mrs Duffield and I have thoroughly enjoyed our first week with our new Year 6's. They are already making us proud, setting a good example for the rest of the school to follow and blowing us away with their thirst for learning. We are excited to embark on the crazy journey of Year 6 with them and can't wait to watch them flourish.
Have a brilliant weekend,
