Our first full week is complete!
The children have amazed me with their enthusiasm for learning, especially in topic lessons; they are thoroughly enjoying learning about the Tudors. Henry VIII is ruthless in his pursuit for a male heir (we have just learnt about Henry beheading Anne Boleyn). Will he ever get the son he so desperately longs for? We will find out next week…
In English, we continue to discover more about the complex character of Bradley Chalkers. The children have amazed me with their deeper thinking skills and their levels of understanding. Over the course of the week, the children have been developing the skills of using evidence from the text to support a statement they are making; they have shown great progress.
In Maths, we have been learning how to round and calculating with negative numbers. The children have a wonderfully positive attitude towards maths and are always willing to have a go. This week we have reignited our love for the humble number line and all the understanding it brings!
We received a visit from Mrs Mobbs from Lynn Grove today. The children listened beautifully to what she had to say and asked thoughtful questions at the end of the session. The children took home their secondary application forms yesterday. Just a reminder that these forms must be completed by the 31st October. A text also went home yesterday informing you of the local secondary schools open evenings. We encourage children and their grownups to attend as many of these as possible as it enable the children and you to make an informed decision.
Today we also had Peter from Norfolk Cricket coach our outdoor PE session. The children all worked up a sweat and had a great time. I am pleased to say that all our outdoor PE sessions will be led by Norfolk Cricket this half term – lucky us!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the last of the summer sun.
