Fantastic fractions, a delightful decoration morning and sad 'see you soon'.
This week in Year 6 we had to say a very sad goodbye to Mrs Duffield. It is safe to say that she will be missed by all the children and adults at Homefield as she truly was the most amazing teaching assistant. However, we are also excited for her as she starts a new adventure in another school. Good luck Mrs D!
This week in maths we have been adding improper fractions and some of us have moved onto finding the sum of mixed numbers. The children have really impressed me with their growth mindset and enthusiasm.
In English we are writing letters of complaint. We have decided to write to our local MP and the Department of Education to complain about school funding cuts and the impact they are having on the children's education. On Thursday, we interviewed Mr Young about the consequences of the nationwide cuts at Homefield; he was very informative and gave us some brilliant material for our letters.
In Art we have been continuing with our self-portraits in the style of Romero Britto. We have all made excellent progress, especially since our lesson on proportion. With the drawing stage almost finished, this week we have moved our attention to colour: harmonious and complementary – ask your child all about it.
We finished the week with decoration day. A huge thank you to all the grown ups who came into help, both the children and I really appreciate it.
Finally, a big congratulations to those children who completed their Bikebility course on Monday. The feedback I received from Simon and Jamie was all positive – they were so impressed with the children’s behaviour and manners, which is always lovely to hear.
Have a brilliant weekend,
Miss B x
