Have an EGGcellent Easter!
The last week in year 6 has been very busy and filled with lots of lovely things.
Miss Battle has been trying to make revision for our SATs in May as engaging as posssible. Conseqently we have spent several afternoons outside enjoying maths and SPaG tresure hunts, quizes in class and loop card games. This week our SPaG loop card game time has improved from 7 minutes and 10 seconds to a very impressive 4 minutes and 57 seconds.
Last week had the pleasure of some very fluffy visitors… chicks! Everyone in year 6 was enable to have a hold and it was wonderful to see the children (and adults) so excited.
Everybody in class made two Easter cards last week and on Monday afternoon we delivered them to Oak and Holly Avenue. The weather was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed spreading some Easter joy. Thank you to the very kind gentleman on Oak Avenue who generously donated £10 to our school funds.
We ended the week with the Easter bonnet perade. It was nice to see more year 6s take part this year. Well done to all those who entered and a big congratulations to Michelle who won. In the afternoon we had our end of term assembly. Well done to all those who received an attendence award, it was great to see so many of you up there. A big well done to Alexie who was deservedly awarded this terms Head teacher Award. Finally to top it off year 6 won the Respect Race with a very impressive lead. Well done guys and thank you for having such amazing manners.
Year 6 have made incredible progress this term and we are so proud of all they have accomplished. It was wonderful to send Poppy, Sophie, Megan and Scarlett down to Mr Young today to show him how much progress they have made in their ‘10 in 11’ daily practice. Whilst all the children need a rest over the Easter holidays they do have some homework to complete. A ’10 in 10’ maths booklet has gone home with all children and there is an optional SPaG test for them to complete on spag.com.
Next term is extremely busy! We are starting our Vicious Vikings topic and to kick start the topic Miss Battle has organised a Viking workshop at Norwich Castle. Letters went home today (28.03.18). The trip will take place on Friday 20th April. If your child was absent today or has lost/forgotten their letter please find a copy of it attached at the bottom of the blog.
Finally year 6 we would like to wish you all a very happy Easter. Have a rest (you deserveit!), be safe and most importantly have lots of fun.
Miss Battle and Mrs Parker x
