Summer Half-Term and Bank Holiday to look forward to!
This week has been jammed with activities. The Year 4 children had their evacuation day at Gressenhall Museum. They had a fabulous time and learnt a great deal about children in World War II. The Year 6 pupils finally got their SATS reward of fish and chips at the beach on Monday. All were impeccably behaved as usual and they all took great delight in burying Miss Battle and I in the sand. I am still finding grains everywhere. Thanks for that guys!
Super Readers this week saw Year 5 victorious, but they narrowly fell short of the 80% target achieving 77%. Thai is still a very strong score, so well done guys. I would love to see all classes above 50% each week. Let's see if we can achieve this for after half-term.
Reception: 60% Year 1: 43% Year 2: 50% Year 3: 42% Year 4:70% Year 5: 77% Year 6: 34%
Attendance was won by Year 1 this week with 99.33%. Well done to all pupils in this class for coming in each day. Years 5 and 6 were just behind. With our increase in holiday requests, sadly Years 2 and Reception fell below the Norfolk threshold of 95%.
We had three Gooseberry Planet parental sessions this week and were disappointed with the parental turnout of 18 parents out of six year groups (183). Thank you to those who did make it in and I am glad you found the sessions informative. We hoped the time chosen of straight after school and the offer of free childcare would have had more of an appeal. The importance of E-safety is extremely high at Homefield and we feel the issues the school has to deal with already, shows it needs to have equal importance outside of school.
I had two new colleagues earlier in the week with Hawker House Captains as Headteachers for the Day. Both were marvellous in the role undertaking a learning walk and pupil interviews. Both were mature, responsible and sensible. At least I know the school will be in good hands when I am not there.
Thanks must go to Go Geronimo for the Tennis Enrichment and for the Years 3 & 4 Boys' Football, which was highly entertaining on Thursday afternoon. We really have some raw talent coming through our ranks in those two classes.
I hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing and safe half-term. We will see you all when you get back for even more Summer events.
