Easter holidays arrive after a parade of bonnets.
This week has been a real treat of Easter events, beginning with the Years 3 and 4 performance of Plastic Pirates and finishing with the presentation of the Easter eggs for the "best bonnet" winners.
It was great to see the children taking part showing off their creations. Well done to the two Year 6 pupils, who showed they were still not not too cool for school, by entering worthy contributions. I also enjoyed accompanying Year 1 posting their cards in the community. We received lots of gratitude and it shows how important our neighbours are to us.
Attendance was won by Year 1 and this victory clinched the half-term title. Well done. However, attendance for Reception was 86%, which is unacceptable and must improve, particularly as they will soon be assessed against their Early Learning Goals. Years 4, 5 and 6 were all below the 96% threshold too. An attendance review will be conducted after the Easter holidays. Hawkers won the House Team Points race this week, so well done to them.
The stage play by Years 3 and 4 was a worthy production of all their efforts and had a very important message to share about how much plastic waste we cause. 'Polly Styrene' and 'Captain Cling Film' led the way with this. Well done to all of the pupils and staff.
Yesterday, we held our Eucharist celebrations across the school and it was brilliant to see how well our pupils absorbed the learning and reflected on the activities. We began at Church and then returned to school to carousel around different stations. The impact from the day has clearly been seen by the comments written by the children. Thank you again to all who contributed to its success.
I am also really pleased that our Boys' Football Team had a convincing win against St. Mary's. It was a good performance and a result the boys deserved. Great penalty save also.
Please remember we return on Tuesday 23rd April. As it is St. George's Day, we would like you to attend school in something red and white.
Have a happy and relaxing Easter everyone.
