Decoration Day tops off a fantastic week!
We have enjoyed parents visiting today and supporting their children to make decorations and Christmas objects for our Christmas Fayre on Saturday 2nd December. There was a lot of creativity on show and all involved had fun. We had combined the day with pebble painting in aid of the Light Up a Tree campaign for St. George's Park. We raised £87.00 in total, which was marvellous; so thank you very much.
Now the weather has turned, please ensure your child arrives to school wearing appropriate clothing. I am aware that some children got some soggy shoes or wet socks/tights after a brief encounter at morning break with the snow Thursday. Firstly, let me apologise but let me assure you all, if any children got a little damp they were not left in wet clothing nor footwear and our best efforts to dry clothing was made across the whole day. All children were kept warm and all coats were kept inside to stay dry. If children were collected wearing different clothing to that which they arrived in, every effort was made to explain what had happened to the adult collecting.
Year 4 won this week's Super Readers, with 63% or 19 pupils reading at least five times to an adult and having it recorded in their reading record. I cannot speak highly enough of how important reading with your child is every single day. I am sure most of you do, but can I ask you to also record it in your child's reading record.
Attendance was won by Year 5 again with 99.35%. They have stolen a lead on the attendance race board. Well done to them. Sadly, Year 1 dropped below the 95% County threshold with 92.67%.
Our Senior Citizens' Lunch was a massive success again and I am thrilled that our pupils excelled themselves with their conversational skills and manners. The atmosphere was wonderful and the choir gave it an overwhelmingly Christmas feel.
I hope to see as many of you as possible at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday 2nd December helping us to raise funds for our PTA. We have lots of activities and stalls for you to peruse. Hopefully, it will be the highlight of your weekend.
