Last full week finally comes to an end!

Well what a week it has been. It started off with tiredness and a low mood after England's defeat to Italy in the Euro final and ended with Nursery being closed due to a positive case within the setting. We have been quite fortunate really in school up until now with COVID, compared to many other places. I am putting this down to strict expectations and dedication by all stakeholders.

This must continue next week, despite the announcement that restrictions can be lifted. The Governors have agreed with senior leaders that for the sake of three days the status quo does not change. Staff will be on both entrances to school Monday to ensure all visitors to the site are following our expectations. Sadly, cases are on the increase, so we all must continue to do what we can to keep one another safe.

Hawkers have won this week's House Team Points race and Year 1 claimed victory again in having the highest number of pupils reading five times in the week. Well done to all winners.

We have had Year 6 travel to Whitlingham today and Year 2 popped over to Africa Alive. Unfortunately, Year 5 were en route to Whitwell, when they informed there was a COVID outbreak there and all staff were isolating. Such a pity, but again highlights the increase of cases in our area. Year 1 had their mini monsters visit and Year 3 next week travel to Norwich Castle for an Egyptian Day.

Next week, we dedicate the final two days to our Year 6 Leavers, where we hope their send-off will be a memorable one as they prepare for High School in September.

The past five years have been a real roller coaster of emotions. There have been nerves at being Headteacher for the first time, stresses at preparing for an Ofsted and SIAMS inspection and joy at achieving all the highs we have in that time. I have been so proud to lead this school with such a strong and amazing staff and moreover, so proud to be the Headteacher of such wonderfully talented, magical and polite pupils. I wish all families well for the coming year and a happy and healthy future. You will all be missed.

Stay safe everyone.
