Week commencing 28.01.2019
Year 1 have been busy learning about different parts of animals and their diets. Mrs Carter was super impressed on Friday when we had a circle time activity and everyone could tell me the difference between a carnivore, herbivore and omnivore. We also successfully sorted a few animals into the correct diet groups - well done!
Next week we will be starting our new History Topic ' Great Yarmouth Suspension Bridge Collapse (Sorry about the spelling mistake on the Knowledge Organiser - just noticed!)
There have been some brilliant letters written to Sunny this week (Meerkat Mail character) with much improved presentation and brilliant vocabulary used. We are now moving onto The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
This was the last week of addition and subtraction before we move on Place Value. At home try asking your child different addition and subtraction questions to 20 to keep this fresh in their mind. We are making good progress, but we could do even better.
Just a reminder we are now changing reading books on a Monday and Thursday. Rainbow words are going well and we now have Rocket words (Year 1 words) which are to be sight read. Once all rocket words have been completed, then we will be checking the spelling of the Rocket words.
Phonic homework books will be updated next week - please ensure your child's Phonic Homework book is kept in their book bag.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Year one Team
