Autumn is here...
Another busy week in year 1 with lots of wonderful learning and good behaviour. The children seem to have really grasped the step up to year 1 and have become more grown up which has helped.
Maths this week has been finishing off the topic of place value within numbers to 10. The children have done exceptionally well and have all understood most of the areas that we have covered and have even moved onto extensions/challenges. Next week we will be moving on to addition.
English this week has been focusing on Brown Bear once again, the children have enjoyed looking at adding different verbs and have even written their own little stories. Their writing is really developing and they are becoming more confident, which is good to see.
The beginning of the week was focused on creating beautiful pieces of work ready to show in their class assembly, we look forward to seeing some of you there. The children have started a new topic this week of 'everyday materials' and this will be science based. Already they have been naming different materials and thinking about what materials things are made out of.
Can we please ask that you try to give the children warm PE clothes for Thursdays lessons, as these are outside and the weather is becoming colder. Also can we please make sure that clothes are clearly named so that it makes it easier when it comes to handing out jumpers etc at the end of the day.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
From the Year 1 team.
