This week was World Mental Health awareness...
Another busy week in year 1 filled with lots of wonderful learning and great attitudes. In particular the children have really impressed us this week with their hard work which was presented during the class assembly. We received many lovely comments from other members of staff, children etc. and we thank you and the children for helping to make this a lovely experience.
Maths this week has been challenging for the children as we have moved on to looking at adding numbers. The children have struggled with some of the methods shown but they have shown great perseverance and resilience throughout. Next week we are looking forward to working on our number bonds to 10, which we hope the children will enjoy.
English and phonics this week have been super busy, with the children recapping some of their previously learnt sounds and reading a new story. This week the story was called 'Mrs Armitage on Wheels', the children have since worked on using description and orally constructing sentences based on the story.
On Thursday this week it was World Mental Health awareness day, and we thank you for helping to raise the awareness by assisting the children in wearing something yellow on the day. During the afternoon we completed some PSHE based on our feelings and we talked about the things which make us happy (we had some lovely responses). We also went on to say kind things about each to make us smile, this was really uplifting for everyone.
Next week is parents evening, thank you for all signing up, we look forward to seeing you and having a chat about your children. Can we please ask that you kindly keep to the scheduled timings for the evening, as it will be busy. If you find that you need to talk more, please let us know and we can organise another date/time to speak.
Can we please remind you to place names into the children's clothes.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend, only 1 more week until half term.
From the Year 1 team
