A fun and interesting week...
This week has been a fun week with lots of amazing learning. This week has been extra special with Sports Relief. Today the children had the opportunity to learn a new dance as part of the Sports Relief challenges. The dance was taught by AJ and Curtis, through a clip on Youtube. The children really enjoyed this and tried really hard to learn the tricky dance moves. We also researched what Sport Relief was actually about and where our money will go. So a big thank you for all the money donated!
Maths this week has been based on length and height. The children have had the opportunity to measure the length and height of different objects and images. We even went into the hall to put ourselves into height order, using the correct terminology of shorter, shortest etc.
English this week has been based on Jasper's Beanstalk, but this week the children have worked up to writing their own version of the story. Firstly they completed a storyboard of their ideas, this took them a couple of days. Then today the children made their own 'posh' new stories, this included some amazing sentences and some beautiful pictures.
The beans that the children have been growing in class, are still going strong, and we are looking forward to seeing which one grows quickest.
Once again if you would like to complete any extra work with your children (alongside their reading and homework) you could try the website Topmarks for different English and maths games.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
From the Year 1 team.
