Two weeks completed and feeling good...
We have had a super week with the children trying hard to settle in and adjust to the new class and routines. Overall, we have been impressed with the children’s behaviour and their good manners, which has been a focus in our collective worship this week too.
The children have completed lots of wonderful learning this week, with them trying hard with their counting to 20 in Maths and completing many different activities around this. In English, the children have been looking at the book Handa’s Surprise, which they seemed to enjoy, and have had some discussions and tried to do some writing based on this. The afternoons have been focusing on PSHE, with getting to know each other and talking about their families etc., and they have been going outside for extra time to explore in the Bush-craft area amongst other things.
A couple of things- can we please remind you that children should only be bringing in water in their water bottles for class, not squash or juice. Also if you can please check that children have their reading books and reading records with them on a Friday to hand in, that would be great, as we need to have them here for the weekend to make sure they are safe. If they do not have their books with them on the Friday, they will not be able to change their book until the following week. The children will be reminded every Friday to hand them in when they first arrive.
A big thank you for helping at the end of the day, this is a new process for us, and we do appreciate you waiting for us to send your children to you one at a time and with you waving to make it clear who you are, this just makes it safer all round.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week.
From the Year 1 team.
