A busy week...
This week has been another good week with lots of great learning and lessons. The children are doing exceptionally well with what they are being asked to do within year 1, and we hope they continue to build on this. They show that they can have good listening skills and brilliant manners.
Maths this week has been once again looking at numbers and place value. The children have been comparing numbers this week, with them looking at which number is bigger and which is smaller. They have been looking at greater than and less than, with them learning these symbols as a crocodile eating the bigger number, see if you can ask them some questions for example the numbers 3 and 4 which way does the crocodile face (3<4). They have really enjoyed their hands on Maths this week. Children have been completing lots of lovely English work based on the book ‘Peace at Last’, they seemed to have enjoyed this book and they join in with the story telling. They are getting better at their reading, and writing, with them now completing more activities independently.
The afternoon topic once again this week has been Geography with the children looking at the area they live in, and looking at the British Isles. They have completed many different activities on this including looking at google maps and drawing flags for each country within the British Isles. We have also completed other activities in the afternoons including some reading in class.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
From the Year 1 team.
