What a fantastic week...
We have had a great week this week.
Maths this week was the final week going over addition, subtraction and missing numbers. The children have shown such good perseverance with the trickier questions, and we are really proud of them, and they have gained confidence in this area.
English this week has been focused on the story called Pinocchio. The children seem to be really enjoying this, and have been producing some fantastic work based on this lovely book. We have been focusing on using different verbs, adjectives and similes within our writing.
The afternoons this week have been busy, with the children completing different activities. RSHE this week was focused on whom we can ask for help, the children knew the main people to speak to, and we covered what to do if there was an emergency including ringing 999. The children were all very grown up with this and listened carefully. Our afternoon topic has now changed to Science, and the children got the chance to plant their own beans on Thursday. They were very excited and cannot wait to hopefully see their beans grow!
Mr Young came into our lesson today, and he was super impressed with the whole class! So well done Year 1!
Can we please remind you to help/ get your children reading each night please. We have now reached half of the class reading 5 times a week, but it would be great if we could have more.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
From the Year 1 team
