It's a Party!
Phew, what a half term! I'll keep the blog short and sweet as I'm sure we're all very busy making those final preparations for the big day.
I would like to say what a super first full term we have had in Year 2. I am pleased with the progress the children are making and looking forward to learning lots of new things in 2017.
What a way to finish the term with our Year 1 and 2 Nativity. Thank you to all the parents who helped organise a costume and support the children learning their lines and song words. I appreciate how busy everyone is at this time of year so an extra big thankyou.
This week our class counted all of the money raised for Children in Need which totalled well over £400! It helped the children to count in twos, fives and tens to support our multiplication and times tables learning. We will be learning about money for the first three weeks back in our maths lessons. If your child has a piggy bank maybe you could encourage them to count up their coins. It will help with coin recognition and is an excellent way to sneak some counting in together without them even realising!
Next term our topic is 'Famous People and why they were brave'. We will look at the lives of Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong so if you have a chance to read up about either of them it will give your child a head start.
See you back at school on Thursday 5th January 2017. Have a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year. Our secret word for the new term is 'Snowman'. Please write it on a piece of paper with your name to earn points for your team. Hawkers are the best at doing this, followed by Kingfishers. Come on Harriers (my team!) and Swallowtails you're falling behind...
