New Beginnings

Hello and welcome to the Year 3 Blog!

It has a been a fantastic start to the school year with children in settling in so well and establishing new routines. The children have a wonderful can do attitude and they are excited for the year ahead.

Next week, we will be launching our first History topic and English unit of work. In English we will be building up to writing a set of instructions using the book How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth as our inspiration. In our Topic lessons we will be learning about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. In Maths we have started our work on place value. Next week we will be focusing on counting in hundreds, representing numbers and hundreds, tens & ones.

Children were sent home today with their first Knowledge Organiser and the Autumn Term Curriculum Overview. It would be wonderful for you to go through the Knowledge Organisers with your child to help them become familiar with some of the vocabulary that they will be using through out the topic.

PE days for this half will be Monday and Thursday. On Mondays we will be doing gymnastics with Mr Carr and Thursdays will be outdoors. Please can children have trainers for outdoor lessons and ensure that PE kits are in school every day as sometimes there may be changes to the usual timetable or enrichment activities. If earrings can be removed on PE days we would be very grateful.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Miss Clark :)
