Stone Age!

It has been an extremely busy first full week in Year 3. We are now fully into routine and showing enthusiasm for our lessons. It was particularly fun linking our Stone Age topic to PE lessons where we have been practising ball skills. Next week we will be pretending to be hunters and practising our aiming skills.

All children were given a book on the first day of term based on their previous book level. When they have read and returned this children now have the freedom to select a book of their choosing to read for pleasure from the school library. With a very busy timetable there may be days where books have been read and need changing but unfortunately we haven't had the opportunity to do it. If this does happen children can read anything from home and this can be recorded in their reading records. It would also be lovely to see children complete a book review or recreate their own stories based on the books from school that they have enjoyed reading.

Unfortunately, this week Year 3 have had to miss some minutes off of their break times. We are working hard to establish routines in class and for children to recognise when they need to be quiet and listening. We have incentives and consequences in class to support this as we all want Year 3 to be a happy and hardworking environment.

Now for some exciting news......

On Friday 27th September we will be having Stone Age to Iron Age day. This will be a fun filled day to round up our first topic of the year. It would be wonderful for children to dress up as if they are from one of the Ages that we have been learning about across this topic. A letter will be given to children on Monday.

Children have been sent home with some spellings to practise over the weekend. Please try to go through these with your child.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend,

Miss Clark and Mrs Ashington :)
