Happy New Year
Welcome back everyone. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. A huge thank you for all of our beautiful gifts and generous donations. The money will be used to enrich the children's learning and allow us to do some exciting activities. We will update you on some of the things we buy.
This week we have seen the children produce some excellent work. In English, our purpose this half term is writing to entertain. We are using a video called the Dream Giver to inspire us to write a fantasy narrative. This week we have written a setting and a character description. Next week we will be writing a dream sequence and looking at building up tension.
In Maths, we have continued with our multiplication unit. Today we learnt the eight times table. Here is a YouTube link to a rather catchy song to help us recall our eight times table.
Next week we will be spending some time revisiting addition and subtraction.
Our blocked subject for the next three weeks is Science. Half of this will be focused on forces and magnetism and the second half will be focused on light. This week we have learnt about push forces, pull forces and friction. We worked in pairs to carry out an investigation, which tested the amount of friction on different surfaces.
PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. The field is rather muddy at the moment so please can trainers be put in a plastic bag to help protect the children's PE kits.
Children have a note to remind them to bring in a special object on Monday for our English lesson.
Have a lovely weekend :)
