Resilience, soil and a yummy Friday afternoon Science lesson.
Well it certainly has been a busy week in Year 3. With some highlights being our Class Collective Worship and making edible soil layers in Science today.
The children made us so proud with how resilient they were when doing our Collective Worship. We faced lots of technical issues and even had to refilm it. I think we can all agree that they did an absolutely outstanding job.
In English this week we have started a unit of descriptive writing based around the text The Firework Makers Daughter by Philip Pullman. We have had lots of fun creating our own firework names and describing them.
In Maths we have moved on to addition and subtraction. We are looking at adding ones to a number and exploring what digits change to further develop our knowledge of place value.
In our Science lessons we have been learning about soil layers. Today we had great fun making edible soil layers. After half term out Rocks and Soils topic will continue and we will be learning about fossils.
Here is the Youtube link to the video we used to help us understand the different soil layers
