This week Year 3 have loved learning about the history of the herring industry in Great Yarmouth. We have seen old photos and videos to find out about a very important part of our town's history. Despite the interest in the topic we don't think it is a job we would like to do now.
In English this week we have finished our explanation texts. The children have really enjoyed our new approach to writing. Stay tuned on Monday to see some of the children's work on the website. Next week we will be starting our unit of instruction writing. We will be linking our instruction writing to wellbeing and mindfulness.
Year 3 have worked really confidently with tenths this week. Their positive attitude and enthusiasm to succeed in lessons is really impressive. We will be continuing with fractions next week as well.
Next week it will be the first of three Science topic weeks. Next week we will be learning about forces and magnetism.
Homework and Reading
A big well done to all the children who completed their homework challenges this week. A new homework challenge went home today. There is a reading activity (you can put this as one of your reads in your reading record) and a times table challenge.
This week we had 15 Super Readers. We would love to continue to increase the number of Super Readers next week. Anything that you read can be recorded and marked as a read. Altogether we now have 380 reading miles. This is how far we have travelled
Have a lovely and hopefully not too rainy weekend!
