A new year group, a new key stage, a new classroom, a new TA... same Miss Everett!
I hope you are all well and had an absolutely lovely break! It has been so great to see you all this week, hearing your stories and seeing how much you've grown in just 6 weeks! The children have all settled back into school brilliantly with some new and old routines!
We have started a new English topic reading The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka where the wolf tells his side of the story...! He only wanted some sugar to make his Grandma a cake and had a terrible cold... We have enjoyed starting writing our own version of this coming up with brilliant vocabulary (as always!) It's great to see how much grammar the children have remembered too!
In Maths we have been looking at hundreds, tens and ones, making hundreds numbers using the dienes and place value grids, to help us recognise, read and write them! I was very impressed that we could prove that 10 tens is 100, that 12 tens made 120 and that 10 one hundreds is 1000! They have been brilliant picking up this new learning and I can't wait to see how we can use this in lots of different ways this year!
We have also really enjoyed learning about the Stone Age. We know there are three periods of the Stone Age - Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic. I wonder what your children can tell you happened in these times and what differences there are between them...?
Have a superb weekend!
Miss Everett, Mr Cole and Cuddles
