Y4 Sets new record for Star readers!

In this section...

Thanks to those of you who could make our collective worship on Thursday.  The children planned and led the worship which is a way of developing their confidence. Don't worry I keep a record of those children who have had turns at speaking parts etc to make sure that throughout the year every child gets that opportunity.  It was a team effort and everyone played their part; well done.

I was thrilled this week when 18 of the class managed to achieve their golden star for meeting the reading target. That is our new highest record of 60% but come on Y4 because Y6 won this week with 80% and we want to be the best so get reading!

In English we have been using our summarising skills.  Why don't you read the blurb of your current reading book together and see how it sums up the content of the book; such a useful life skill.

We have now finished our block of Place Value in maths and will be moving onto addition and subtraction on Monday.  I'm looking forward to that.

We also start a block of R.E on Monday. We will be studying the religion of Islam.  Our big question is 'What does it mean to belong to the Muslim community?' If you have any time this weekend why not research the 5 pillars of Islam to give yourself a headstart.

Keep reading, play 'Hit the Button' at home to boost your maths, bring in your Life Skills passport to get things signed off on our class chart.  There is so much to show your engagement for learning this year.  Get involved and make a difference.

This week's secret word is 'irresistible' (a word to demonstrate our spelling pattern of adding the prefix ir to a root word starting with r).

Have a great weekend, from Miss Studley and the Y4 team.
