A very rewarding week
Thank you to all of the parents that came into class for our science sharing afternoon. You walked into a DT den and were brilliant at assisting us in the application of our science circuit-making skills to use in our models. The children had a lovely time; I hope you did too.
We have made great progress with our writing this week. We have been working on our non-chronological reports. The children have produced some quality work. We are very close to our hot tasks now.
I'm seeing some real improvements in reading comprehension. We completed another task today in English. I have sent the questions home so you can see what they've done. Ask them to show you. Make it a focus of one of your reading sessions together. The aim is that the children get faster at extracting the answers from the whole text. This will help them when they do their next assessment task.
In maths we have been learning about perimeter. We have one more lesson planned for Monday and then we will be learning about multiplication and division.
Throughout all lessons the children have been super receptive and over-flowing with enthusiasm. I am very proud of them.
I have set some new times tables on the TT Rockstars website. Make sure your child spends time practising their tables. Take a look at what they have to do. Your encouragement at home makes a huge difference.
We have had a very low week of attendance. It is because we have had excellent attendance since the beginning of Year 4. It seems all of the illness struck us in the same week. Hopefully we will be back to full strength next week.
The secret word for the week is 'Perimeter'.
Have a great weekend,
From Miss Studley and Miss T.
