Our new Geography topic is going well. See how many European countries your child can name.
This week's featured photo shows a PSHE activity they were doing with Mrs Loveland on Wednesday. They had to act out a feature on human rights. Ask your child about it.
In maths we have started fractions. We are trying to make it all as visual as we can. It has started well. We have a further 3 weeks on fractions. See if they can tell you about fractions equivalent to a half.
In English we have started a two week unit on persuasive letter writing. We love writing and as a class I can see the little pockets of improvement.
Nest week we have another group starting Bikeability. I'm still waiting for forms back from a few children. A text reminder went out today if you are one of them. The final group will have their turn on 21st and 22nd March (letters to follow).
Spag.com tests have been added today so please encourage your child to log on and have a go. From previous tests I can see who has logged on and attempted them. Only 13 out of 30 did it last time. They have their log-ins inside the cover of their reading diaries.
How is your costume sourcing going for the play? We do it first week in April so it is worth getting organised. The children know what their parts are, they have had their scripts since before the holiday. Have a read through with them. It can count towards their Superstar readers target of 5 reads per week. We have a few children who are getting close to filling their bookmarks with stickers. It shows a great commitment to reading and that they are good at looking after their bookmarks. Keep it up. We have about 15 children per week achieving 5 reads. Most of you read at least once (this week 2 children had zero reads and a text went out to those parents). Thank you for your ongoing support; a little bit of encouragement goes a long way to motivate the children.
Can I make a plea that if your child has signed up to a club after school that they do everything possible to attend regularly. I appreciate that there will be some genuine reasons for non-attendance occasionally. On a positive note, our class won the attendance race this week with excellent attendance (over 99%). Brilliant!
Have a great weekend. The secret word is 'commitment'.
