Mr Earle is showing us the way to go!

Firstly, welcome back for the 2nd half of the Autumn Term.  It is a long half term (7 and a bit weeks) leading up to that magical time of year that begins with C, although Miss Clark said today that now it is November we are officially allowed to start talking about Christmas!

I was so impressed with the autumn photos.  If you still have one to bring in I will leave the judging until Tuesday next week.  Thank you for the entries so far; they have made the start of a beautiful display in our classroom.  I also hope you enjoyed taking them.

The children have been great this week, particularly as we came back to a few days of assessments! I have sent home the maths assessments in a brown envelope for you to look over with your child to see where they need extra help. Anything you could do with them at home would help enormously so please see if you can find some time.  Could you please return the paper by next Friday.

Our photograph this week features Sailor Bear with a very special guest.  We won the attendance this week with 100% attendance in Year 4; brilliant effort! We have Attendance Ted for the week. Let's hope this good health can continue.

Your child took a spelling cauldron home this week.  This sheet contains some of the words from the Autumn term so far that your child has spelled incorrectly. It is a personal list to them and again would help enormously if they could learn these words. We have not had Spelling Attack classes this week, due to assessments, so there is no new homework.

We started our Outdoor Learning block on Monday. Mr Earle led this lesson.  The children enjoyed having their lesson outdoors, learning about the points of a compass. Please ensure your child has a suitable coat especially as the weather starts to get cooler and damper. We also have moved our outdoor PE slot to a Monday afternoon for this half term.  Can you please ensure your child has a tracksuit in their kit bag as it is getting cooler now.

There are several children who are forgetting their PE kit on a regular basis.  Please help them to get organised and bring what they need.

There are several people who are now overdue with the deposit for the Kingswood residential. It was due on the 18th October.  Please pay on Parentmail at your earliest convenience and if you are not intending for your child to attend please ensure I know!

I am encouraging children to write a book review if they have enjoyed reading a particular book.  We display these in the classroom and is a way to further promote the love of reading by peer recommendations.

We are learning how to write a non-chronological report in English again next week and in maths we are adding and subtracting 4-digit numbers. Our RE unit continues.  Thank you if you read the Knowledge Organiser with your child over the holiday; it shows in the children who did! Remember our big RE question in Year 4 is 'What kind of world did Jesus want?'

Have a great weekend.  The secret word is 'Gospel.'
