All systems go on Decoration Day!

Firstly, I must say a huge thankyou to the parents and family members who came into class today to support the children with their Decoration Day activities. Also a massive thank you to Miss Thompson who planned the day for us.  She loves her arts and crafts so we were more than happy to let her use those creative talents; thanks Miss T. I hope you will be able to make the Christmas Fayre tomrrow from 11a.m where you will be able to make a voluntary contribution to purchase the sequin bauble and the wooden tree decoration made today.

This week the children have been writing formal letters.  We have combined it with our Romans topic. Next week we will be looking at writing an informal letter and again we are linking it to the Romans.  Why don't you encourage your child to research some of the more gruesome Roman customs, as that will be forming the basis for our work!

Just going to pop this week's secret phrase in here....'Let it Snow'.

We have been multiplying and dividing in maths this week. We have been multiplying  2-digit numbers by 6.  The children have loved a new method we have been using (ask them about it). Toby and a few others even took some extra work home to complete (their request).  I love it when children want to do more at home.  It shows how engaged they are.  Ruby R has also earned herself some team points this week by bringing in some extra topic work from home.  Her handwriting was so impressive we thought it was a piece of work completed by a Year 6 pupil!

Remember we have two vacancies for Year 4 to assisit as a librarian. We have 3 applications so far from Tia, Imogen and Connie.  Get yours in asap if you would like to be considered.  I know Abigail is going to apply but was poorly today.  Get well soon Abigail and don't worry you will get an opportunity to make your Christmas items next week when you return to school.

We are going to start a new block next week on computing. We will be data retrieving and organising.  This will involve downloading images into a file and copying graphics from a range of sources and paste into a program.  We have some new ICT equipment in school such as some visualisers so maybe we could check them out next week too.

Just a reminder that it is the Sportshall Athletics competition for the Y3/4 team on Wednesday after school at Lynn Grove. We have 11 pupils from our class and 9 from Y3.  Miss Clark and I will see you all there for a 4pm start. If you are able to spectate that's great.  If not we will see you for a 5.30pm collection in the sports hall.

Have a great weekend,

from Miss Studley and the Y4 team.
