A new week, a new sport
This week the older classes were treated to a taster sport called Tchoukball. Mark Higgins came in from Go Geronimo to deliver the sessions. This is going to be the after school sports club for the older pupils starting Tuesday 11th May and running for 7 weeks. A text was sent out today, but basically we can take up to 15 pupils for this club. Year 4 will be on the same day as their PE day which is changing back to a Tuesday from next week (4th May). Look out for the sign-up notification next week. To avoid disturbing the school office, we will text you when it is ready on Parent mail.
In English this week we have been continuing on with gathering some high quality language for our holiday brochure which we will be writing next week.
In maths, we have practising our addition and subtraction strategies. Ask your child about the bar model.
In science, we have been thinking about climate change and considering what difference we can make personally to help our planet.
In PSHE, which we now refer to as Relationships Education, we have considered the meaning of marriage and a long, committed relationship. We have also considered what it might feel like to have an arranged marriage. It brought up some excellent questions.
The children are being encouraged to write more. We have introduced a new 'Jotter' book today. The children absolutely love the idea that they now have the opportunity to do some 'free writing'.'
Well done on the 21 children who read at least 5 times. That is our highest score so far; I am very proud. Let's see if we can the remaining 10 children to make that contribution.
Have an excellent long weekend, and we will see you Tuesday. Remember, our PE day will be Tuesday from now on.
The secret word is 'Tchoukball'.
