Y5 First blog of the new year

In this section...

Here We Are

Hurrah, we're back and what a fabulous start to the new year it's been. The children seem almost as pleased to be back as the teachers and it's wonderful to have the school busy again.

Year 5 have adapted brilliantly to our new routines, and our handwashing system is now working like a well-oiled machine!

Here We Are

We have spent our start to the year looking at the book 'Here We Are' by Oliver Jeffers and this has produced some beautiful poetry for our first class display and some heartfelt letters to special people (or animals) in our lives.

We've been revisiting place value and reintroduced (by popular demand) our 'ten in tens'. Some of the children show real understanding of their maths thinking and lots of them have a super times tables knowledge at their disposal.

Anglo Saxons

We have started the year with a history block and can now discuss where, when and why the Anglo-Saxon period came about. We've practised being history detectives and already solved the riddle of the burial at Sutton Hoo.

Menu - Hot Meals are Back for Year 5!!!!

This coming week, we are trialling hot meals for all who wish them. I've attached a link to the menu and hope to see a great take up to support our kitchen, especially now that the weather is starting to cool.  /page/?title=School+Dinner+Meals+and+Menus&pid=55

Fitness Club

There are still places left at the Year 5 after school fitness c;lub run by Go Geronimo. Thinking of joining in the fun? Let the school office know.
