Homefield House Teams debut in Spelling Bee competition.
Yesterday, Homefield pupils from Years 2 to 6 represented their House Teams in the school's first Spelling Bee competition. This was another wonderful opportunity to challenge the pupils' skills and attributes, as well as for them to bring pride to their House Team.
Despite this being the first event of its kind at Homefield, all those involved performed so well and really embraced each of the three rounds. Pupils enunciated each word given to them aloud, and at times did this bravely in front of a live audience.
After a very closely run competition, the two House Teams that went into the Final were Kingfishers and Hawkers. Hawkers eventually won the Spelling Shoot-Out to take the glory on this occasion. We aim to make this a regular event.
It was lovely to hear so many other children saying they could spell some of the words which the contestants were given and we hope this has gone some way in impacting upon all pupils to raise the importance of spelling.
Special mention must go to all contestants for their courage and confidence in taking part in this event.
